Jazz Jamaica All Stars - Liquidator

Jazz Jamaica is bass player Gary Crosby's brainchild - a fusion of jazz and the Caribbean rhythms of ska and reggae that first coalesced in a 9-piece outfit in 1991 and expanded to the 20-piece big band of the Jazz Jamaica All Stars in 1999.

I first encountered Jazz Jamaica on their album Double Barrel from 1998. The opening number had a spoken declaration: 'We - - - are Jazz Jamaica!", followed by both barrels of joyful, infectious music that would brighten up any dull day of a British winter. Double Barrel has never been released on vinyl, but here's a track from it: the theme from the biblical movie epic Exodus (not my video, by the way). I doubt if the theme was ever envisaged as an up-tempo number with a propulsive back-beat and strutting bass!

The 2001 CD Massive from the All Star line-up finally had some tracks released on vinyl in 2011 (a volume 1, so maybe the other tracks will follow sometime), and from this, here is Liquidator.
