Saturday Night Fever

The music to the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever is one of the biggest selling soundtrack albums, and it, and the film, were responsible for breathing new life into disco music and giving the Bee Gees' career added impetus.

Although centred around the Bee Gee numbers, other artists such as Kool & The Gang, Tavares, and KC & the Sunshine Band were featured. Film and TV composer David Shire also produced musical numbers that helped frame the action.

For my video I've chosen side 3 of the double album which seems to me to give a good overview of the musical action - two numbers by the Bee Gees, one each by Kool & The Gang and KC and the Sunshine Band, and David Shire's re-working of Mussorgsky's Night on a Bare Mountain, here given a disco beat as Night On Disco Mountain.
