Bob Marley - Exodus

The title track from Bob Marley's 1977 album, Exodus, it makes its appearance here on Legend - apparently the best selling reggae album ever.

Allmusic describes this track: "Bob Marley's first international hit, the empowering single "Exodus," tied the Biblical account of Moses and the Israelites' journey out of exile to the continuing hope of Rastas to be led to freedom by Jah himself. Marley recorded the single in London, after an assassination attempt forced him to leave Jamaica in late 1976. He had conceived Exodus as the title of his next LP before even writing the song. The driving rhythm lent an air of activity to the song, and the backing vocals increased the communal air of the chorus, "Exodus, movement of Jah people." Despite its revolutionary theme, the single hit the Top 20 in Britain and earned airplay on many black stations in the U.S. as well. "
