This 1960 release from Henry Mancini got a rather lukewarm review on Allmusic, with Scott Yanow declaring it to be a historical curiosity, and some tracks rather corny. All of which may be true. But it's an enjoyable listen nonetheless, with some class players in the mix, including Art Pepper on clarinet, Shelly Manne on drums and one Johnny Williams on piano and harpsichord (before he became a big-shot Hollywood composer).
Henry Mancini was one of the most versatile musicians of his generation and was responsible for a string of successful movie and TV scores. He won twenty Grammy Awards (nominated seventy two times). plus four Academy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.
