After Bing Crosby's White Christmas, which I posted a few days ago, the Christmas theme continues with this album of concerti by Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713). The final movement of Concerto No.8 of opus 6 was associated with midnight mass at Christmas and this has been enough to get the concerto called the "Christmas Concerto" - a fact seized upon by Argo Records' marketing department in naming this 1974 collection of four of the twelve the opus 6 concerti.
The excellent sleeve notes (click on the scan below) are by Christopher Hogwood who prepared the performing edition for this recording.
