In the little series of Fifth Symphonies on my Classics and Vinyl YouTube channel it was natural to return to this splendid Philips set of the complete Dvořák symphonies and post No.5 (having already posted No.3 and No.6).
Composed in 1875 (with revisions in 1887). Dvořák's Fifth Symphony was first performed in Prague in 1879, conducted by Adolf Čech. To supplement the notes from the Philips set, reproduced below, this detailed description is well worth a read.
