Gerry Mulligan Quartet - My Funny Valentine / Blueport

Gerry Mulligan has featured here twice before, with his Concert Jazz Band, and his meeting with Thelonius Monk. Now we have his piano-less quartet - with Art Farmer on trumpet this time, Chet Baker having moved on after Mulligan's six month prison stint for drug offences.

Allmusic says of the 1959 album What Is There To Say:
"The last of the pianoless quartet albums that Gerry Mulligan recorded in the 1950s is one of the best, featuring the complementary trumpet of Art Farmer, bassist Bill Crow, and drummer Dave Bailey along with the baritonist/leader. This recording is a little skimpy on playing time but makes every moment count. Virtually every selection is memorable, with "What Is There to Say," "Just in Time," "Festive Minor," "My Funny Valentine," and "Utter Chaos" being the high points. Highly recommended both to Mulligan collectors and to jazz listeners who are just discovering the great baritonist."
The tracks on the video are Art Farmer's composition Blueport - written for the quartet (and it can be heard from a year later with Mulligan's Concert Jazz Band) and My Funny Valentine - a track particularly associated with Chet Baker.
