The music of Havergal Brian has appeared here before - mostly a few of his (many) craggy and individualistic symphonies. This time we have some of his music in a somewhat lighter vein - his English Suite No.5 "Rustic Scenes" from 1953. As the sleeve note for this record mentions, this 1975 recording was its first performance - from the enterprising Leicestershire Schools Symphony Orchestra, who had made the first commercial recording of Brian's music two years earlier.
