Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986) was a French composer who is most often remembered today by his Requiem - a work commissioned in 1941 by the French Vichy government. He was still working on it in 1944 when the Vichy regime collapsed, but decided to complete it and it was published in an SATB + organ edition in 1948.
The sleeve notes below are only in French; for an English note on the music look here.
This recording seems to date from 1959 (no date is given on either label or sleeve), and has the composer conducting, along with his wife, Marie-Madeleine Duruflé-Chevalier playing the organ part. Both Duruflé and Marie-Madeleine were accomplished organists and they toured together as an organ duo.
