Williamson - Sinfonia Concertante

Australian composer Malcolm Williamson (1931-2003) was appointed as the 19th Master of the Queen's Music in 1975 following the death of Sir Arthur Bliss. A successful and much-commissioned composer, who had initially studied under Eugene Goossens in Sydney, Williamson's music was brought to the fore by this 1978 double album of his music consisting of both new and previously issued recordings.

Here we have his Sinfonia Concertante, completed in 1961, and dedicated to his wife. Originally called Symphony No.2, each movement has a religious inscription, and the music is detailed in the informative album notes reproduced below. The music on record one was released by Lyrita Recorded Edition on CD in 2007.
