Henry Mancini - Charade

Henry Mancini's score for the 1963 Stanley Donan film Charade has been described as providing an "easy listening tour of continental musical history". With great chemistry between Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, the Paris-set caper has elements of thriller, romance and comedy.

With the film itself being in the public domain I decided to match the tracks on the album with clips from the film where the music was used, thus giving the music some visual context. For this reason the music tracks are ordered to coincide with the film rather than the ordering on the album.

The record entered Billboard's pop chart on February 1964, peaking at no.6, and the title song Charade reached no.15 when released as a single. In the film the title song occurs in three versions - instrumental, vocal and as a carousel-type arrangement.
