The Modern Jazz Quartet was a group led by pianist John Lewis whose elegant and restrained playing took jazz and combined it with the sensibilities of classical, and especially Baroque, music whilst managing to retain their blues roots.
It was no surprise therefore to find the MJQ combining with the New York Chamber Symphony in this 1987 album Three Windows. Here is A Day In Dubrovnik - a suite with three parts depicting Afternoon, Evening and Late Night, and Morning in the picturesque Adriatic town.
