Lutosławski - Concerto for Orchestra

Some months ago I posted Witold Lutosławski's Trois Poèmes d'Henri Michaux from this EMI Electrola set of  Lutosławski conducting his own music (issued in 1978).

Lutosławski's Concerto For Orchestra was written between 1950 and 1954 at the behest of the music director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra Witold Rowicki, to whom the work was dedicated. (Three Dvořák symphonies conducted by Rowicki have appeared on this blog to date). Written before the composer's move towards aleatoric components in his music the Concerto For Orchestra sits as the culmination of his more accessible folk-based period, and is the work that made his name in the West - sitting alongside Bartok's similarly titled 1943 work.

Details on the music can be found in the notes for this EMI set reproduced below, and here from the Los Angles Philharmonic programme notes.
