Charlie Parker, who died in 1955 aged only 34, was one of the most influential jazz musicians of the mid-20th century, ushering in a style that became known as "bebop" - with fast tempi, complex chord progressions/substitutions and key changes, asymmetric phrasing and generally virtuosic playing.
Now's The Time is an album recorded in 1952-3, but not released by Verve until 1956, after Parker's death. Here are the closing three tracks - with musicians Al Haig (piano), Percy Heath (bass), and Max Roach (drums) accompanying the alto sax of Parker.
